Koito is traditionally hosted by the bride’s family and marks the formal coming together of both families. It’s a respectful gathering where intentions are shared openly, elders guide the conversation, and gifts are presented as a sign of honor and commitment. It’s warm, intentional, and deeply communal — a moment where two families begin walking the journey together.
Ìdáná is the Yoruba traditional engagement, usually hosted by the bride’s family as well. It’s a vibrant celebration where the groom’s family formally asks for her hand, surrounded by music, color, prayer, and joyful exchange. Gifts are presented, elders offer blessings, and traditions unfold with elegance and meaning. It’s lively and full of laughter — yet deeply rooted in honor, heritage, and the sacred joining of families.
